This is a unique and captivating international competition designed exclusively for primary and secondary school students across the Asia-Pacific region. The event focuses on unlocking students’ limitless potential in office software skills, cultivating their innovative operational thinking, problem-solving approaches in software applications, and mastery of office software knowledge. It aims to ignite their passion for exploring various office software domains, including word processing (Word), spreadsheets (Excel), presentations (PowerPoint), database management (Access), office software systems, and real-world applications. Through diverse problem-solving tasks and interactive activities, students expand their knowledge and practical experience in office software concepts, methodologies, and scenario-based operations. This prepares them for future skill development, personal growth, or careers in office-related fields such as clerical work, secretarial roles, data analysis, administrative assistance, and more.

About the Competition

In today’s fast-evolving society, where digital office environments and efficiency are paramount, robust office software skills have become an essential component of youth competency. The Asia-Pacific Youth Office Software Skills Competition deepens students’ understanding of software fundamentals and their ability to employ diverse problem-solving strategies. It encourages participants to break free from conventional approaches, explore innovative solutions, and master critical techniques for tackling real-world challenges—such as document formatting, data analysis, presentation design, and more.

比賽條款/Competition Terms

參賽方法/Participation Method:

  1. 於比賽日期及時間內,登記網上參賽。

  2. 在截止日期結束后5個工作日内,系統將會發送郵件以及聯絡信息,確認參賽系統登入賬戶和密碼。

  3. 在限定時間内,進入本網站内的比賽入口。請使用Google Chrome登入系統

  4. 進入連結後,輸入登入賬戶和密碼。

  5. 進入題目部份,回答題目,進行賽事,每人限1次測試機會。

  6. 結果公佈日,最終成績會透過電郵及電話信息發送,且在官網以及社交媒體賬戶公佈。

  7. ​如需打印成績單以及獎項,在獎項申請登記。

  1. Register online to participate within the competition date and time.

  2. Within 5 working days, the system will send an email and contact information to confirm the login account and password for the participation system.

  3. Enter the competition portal on this website within the specified time. Please use Google Chrome to log in to the system.

  4. After accessing the link, enter your login account and password.

  5. Once you enter the question section, answer the questions to participate in the competition. Each participant is allowed only one test opportunity.

  6. On the result announcement date, the final results will be sent via email and phone, and will also be posted on the official website and social media accounts.

  7. If you need to print the transcript and award details, please register for the award application.

Competition Task Difficulty Levels::

Competition Divisions

The competition is divided by age group and skill level, ensuring participants compete within difficulty ranges tailored to their abilities:

Elementary School Division

This division focuses on foundational office software skills, including:

  • Basic word processing concepts: How to input text, apply simple formatting (bold, italics, font size) in Word.

  • File management and security: Proper file-saving techniques, avoiding accidental deletion of important files.

  • Hands-on activities: Creating simple timetables (using Word or Excel) or designing a self-introduction slide in PowerPoint to grasp core operational concepts.

Problem Design:

  • Emphasizes recognition of basic software elements, such as identifying file format icons or selecting cells in Excel.

  • Tests understanding of simple operational issues, e.g., why timely file-saving matters or how to add a new slide in PowerPoint.

  • Guides students to extract key information from scenarios, such as determining how to highlight text in Word or troubleshooting Excel calculation errors.

  • Goal: Spark interest in office software through engaging content while strengthening practical problem-solving abilities, such as describing steps to create a document or resolving minor software-related issues in daily life.

Middle School Division

This division delves into advanced and comprehensive office software skills, covering:

  • In-depth software functionalities: Principles of data sorting/filtering in Excel, custom animation settings in PowerPoint.

  • Problem-solving strategies: Techniques for formatting long documents in Word, selecting appropriate Excel tools for data analysis.

  • Historical context: Evolution of office software from early word processors to modern suites, and their impact on productivity.

  • Real-world applications: Using Excel for household budgeting, exploring online collaboration tools for team projects.

Problem Design:

  • Requires deeper analytical and reasoning skills. Tasks include:

    • Choosing suitable software/tools for specific tasks and justifying decisions.

    • Diagnosing issues (e.g., identifying formula errors in Excel reports) and proposing solutions.

    • Analyzing factors affecting online office tool efficiency and devising improvement strategies.

  • Critical thinking challenges:

    • Evaluating pros and cons of emerging features (e.g., AI-powered document auto-generation).

    • Balancing efficiency and quality when adopting new tools.

    • Exploring logical frameworks for real-world software applications.

獎項/Reward:

為鼓勵學生的優秀表現, APYEOSSC為每一個組別設置了多種獎項,讓各個層次的參賽者都能找到自己的成就感:

  1. 全場冠軍 (前10%之參賽者)

  2. 冠軍 (11%-25%之參賽者)

  3. 亞軍 (26%-40%之參賽者)

  4. 季軍 (41%-60%之參賽者)

  5. 優異獎 (61%-80%之參賽者)

  6. 參與獎:所有參賽者均可獲得參與獎,表彰他們的努力與參與。

To encourage students' outstanding performance, the APYESSKC has set up multiple awards for each category, allowing participants of all levels to find their sense of achievement:

  1. Grand Champion (Top 10% of participants in the group)

  2. Champion (Top 11%-25% of participants in the group)

  3. Runner-up (Top 26%-40% of participants in the group)

  4. Third Place (Top 41%-60% of participants in the group)

  5. Excellence Award (Top 61%-80% of participants in the group)

  6. Participation Certificate: All participants will receive a participation certificate to recognize their efforts and involvement.

 

教育機構獎勵/Institution Awards

 

除了個人獎項之外,針對學校及培訓機構,APYEOSSC還設立了「傑出學術教育獎」,旨在表彰那些培養了優秀參賽者的教育機構。若機構學生在比賽中獲得冠軍或亞軍,學校將根據參賽者的成績累積分數,進一步獲得教育成就獎。

傑出學術教育獎 (參賽學生超過5名以上之參選機構或導師). 全場冠軍數目可得5分,冠軍數目可得3分,亞軍數目可得2分,季軍數目可得1分。

In addition to individual awards, the APYAKC has established the "Outstanding Academic Education Award" for schools and training institutions, aiming to recognize those institutions that have nurtured outstanding participants. If students from an institution win the champion or runner-up positions in the competition, the institution will accumulate points based on the participants' scores, further earning the Education Achievement Award.

Outstanding Academic Education Award (for institutions or mentors with more than 5 participating students):

  • 5 points for the number of overall champions,

  • 3 points for the number of champions,

  • 2 points for the number of runners-up,

  • 1 point for the number of third-place winners.

賽事模式/Competition Format:

賽事以綫上選擇題方式進行

  1. 比賽全程線上進行,參賽者需提前聲明遵守比賽規則,並承諾獨立作答。

  2. 在比賽過程中,不允許切換屏幕,超過三次即視為作弊處理。

  3. 比賽不設攝像監控,所有成績將基於誠信原則進行公正評判。

  4. 賽事成績將有機會同步至學校​。

  5. 可使用沒有聯網的計算器或草稿紙進行計算。

  6. 可使用手機或電腦,建議使用電腦參賽。

The competition will be conducted online using multiple-choice questions.

  1. The entire competition will be held online. Participants must declare in advance that they will comply with the competition rules and commit to answering independently.

  2. During the competition, switching screens is not allowed. Switching more than three times will be considered as cheating.

  3. There will be no video surveillance during the competition. All results will be judged fairly based on the principle of integrity.

  4. Competition results may be shared with the participants' schools.

  5. Participants are allowed to use a non-networked calculator or scratch paper for calculations.

  6. Mobile phones or computers can be used for participation. However, using a computer is recommended.
